چکیده
Industrially relevant, highly dispersed, Pt/ceria and reference Pt/alumina catalysts with narrow Pt particle size distributions have been prepared, characterised ex situ studied for CO oxidation by operando infrared X-ray absorption spectroscopy. At high conversions, spectator ad-species on ionic platinum are observed while the proceeds particles in a state exhibiting significant PtO coordination. During protracted catalytic extinction, coverage builds up gradually coordination remain because of interactions ceria. The at is suggested to involve sites platinum-ceria boundary that cannot be self-poisoned. This behaviour stark contrast Pt/alumina, which shows removal oxides formed during classical drop activity caused rapid self-poisoning when reaching critical temperature.

Effect of platinum on Ceria supported Cu catalysts for PrOx process in fuel processors
The CO preferential oxidation (PrOx) is one of the critical steps in hydrogen production and purification for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC). This reaction was investigated in the presence of excess hydrogen over Cu/CeO2, Pt/CeO2 and Cu-Pt/CeO2 catalysts. The ceria supports was prepared via precipitation method and Cu-Pt/CeO2 catalyst was synthesized by sequential impregnation o...

Chemisorption of CO and mechanism of CO oxidation on supported platinum nanoclusters.
Kinetic, isotopic, and infrared studies on well-defined dispersed Pt clusters are combined here with first-principle theoretical methods on model cluster surfaces to probe the mechanism and structural requirements for CO oxidation catalysis at conditions typical of its industrial practice. CO oxidation turnover rates and the dynamics and thermodynamics of adsorption-desorption processes on clus...
متن کاملOperando atomic structure and active sites of TiO2(110)-supported gold nanoparticles during carbon monoxide oxidation.
It is well known that gold nanoparticles supported on TiO2 act as a catalyst for CO oxidation, even below room temperature. Despite extensive studies, the origin of this catalytic activity remains under debate. Indeed, when the particle size decreases, many changes may occur; thus modifying the nanoparticles' electronic properties and consequently their catalytic performances. Thanks to a state...
متن کاملPreferential CO oxidation in hydrogen (PROX) on ceria supported catalysts PART II. Oxidation states and surface species on Pd/CeO2 under reac- tion conditions, suggested reaction mechanism
The aim of the PROX reaction is to reduce the CO content of hydrogen feed to proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) by selective oxidation of CO in the presence of excess hydrogen. Both Pt and Pd on ceria are active in CO oxidation (without hydrogen) while Pd is poorly active in the presence of hydrogen. In this paper we aimed at finding the reasons of such behavior, using the same techniq...
